Born and raised in Sligo, Ian has been involved with clay since 1997, and in 2002 he completed a pottery skills course run by the Crafts Council of Ireland in Thomastown, Kilkenny.

He has sold his pottery internationally, including places such as Taiwan, America and Europe and his work is well known by many fashion and interior designers here in Ireland. He uses techniques first used by Roman's and Egyptians, dating back to 10,000BC and his finished pieces are very unusual and artistic. He uses real horsehair and as the hair is consumed by the fire it twists and turns - each becoming an original never to be duplicated again.
