Born in Ireland in 1878, Eileen Gray started experimenting with architecture in the late 1920's after she graduated from the Slade School of Art in London. She decided to move to Paris and started getting commissions for her interior design work after her work was exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs. 

Eileen is well known for designing the adjustable table which she named E1027 ( E for Eileen, 10,2,7 represent the alphabetical order of the letters J, B, G for the architects and her partners' Jean Badovici initials).
